Preliminary Thoughts about the Trip Segments
Stay tuned for more details about projected dates for trip segments for May-June 2025
So I have started to map out potential segments for this 1,000-km Camino—you can see what that looks like on my work table on a long scroll.
My guiding principles are
Aim for 20-25 km per day (about 15-17 miles/day or 5 hours (+/-) of walking.
Use larger towns as hubs or links between segments because they’re nice for layover (rest) days and easier to navigate on public transportation, but the truth is, you can meet up with the group almost anywhere, usually without great expense.
That said, we may have some animal companions with us which makes city centers less desirable, but it will work out because The Camino Provides (which can also mean that we just begin to shift our thinking about what we need, too, but I have to say that the Camino really does provide).
It will probably be more helpful to join the group at a hub than midway in a segment because we’ll reset a bit as a group, return to our framing questions. There will be a certain sense of kismet, of synchronicity, as our path weaves in and out of that of other Peregrinos, and the same will undoubtedly be true in our group overall and on certain days.
